Apprentice Instructor (Level 1) Joe Matibag

Located in San Diego, Joe Matibag has over 20 years of martial arts experience. Building on youth experiences with Kenpo, Tang So Do and Kajukenbo, Joe now focuses on FMA, BJJ, and Muay Thai. Joe's FMA training started with Pekiti Tirsia, and continues with Filipino Combat Systems (FCS: fcskaliphilippines.com) and Doce Pares (Multi-system). He currently holds the rank of Manong/Instructor in FCS. Joe looks forward to working with older adults that are looking for a new and fun way to remain active. Joe is also a proud UCLA Bruin.

Apprentice Instructor (Level 1) Youssef Aref

Youssef Aref has been involved in the science of the human body and martial arts for more than half of his life. He has been training in wrestling for 14 years as well as BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA in the past few years while also coaching wrestling at the beginner, high school and college level at UCLA. Outside of martial arts, he received his BS in Physiological Science from UCLA and MPH from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. He is currently pursuing his MD at the California University of Science and Medicine where he has continued to teach martial arts in self-defense classes for his colleagues in healthcare.
